Ten great reasons to love Multnomah Bible College

Everyone here at Multnomah enjoys many of the blessings offered at this school. Unfortunately, the squeaky wheels tend to get the most attention, and we easily forget just how good life is here.

Here are 10 reasons, in no particular order, to rejoice at your enrollment at MBC.

1. We enjoy a wonderful sense of community. When hundreds of young adults come from all over the world and join in one place, the dynamics can be strange. We all, however, have a common bond in Christ, and that is solid ground to start from. Plus, all those weddings every year suggest people get along very well here.

2. The staff, faculty and administration are godly leaders. Classes, meetings and simple office visits often begin in prayer. The desire to build up the body of Christ is evident and displayed by all who make MBC function so well.

3. Free and critical thought are encouraged. Don't come to Multnomah for a simple spoon feeding of easy theology. The professors encourage and challenge students to live out the knowledge that they learn.

Another wonderful example is The Voice. Many Christian colleges must submit every word they print for administration approval. MBC's administration keeps hands off and allows students to have a forum.

4. The Multnomah bubble isn't always a bad thing. Having a refuge is a good thing, and MBC provides a safe, comfortable atmosphere.

5. The Bible instruction is top notch. If it's Bible you want, then you want Multnomah! The school's slogan draws students here and makes good on the promise of Bible immersion.

6. Spiritual formation is stressed as much as Bible knowledge. We have chapel three days a week. We take school days off for prayer and praise. We sing worship songs in class. Mere head knowledge is not enough when studying the Bible.

7. Campus grounds are pleasing to the eye. Take a stroll across campus, and notice the beauty here. Good job, grounds crew.

8. Chapel provides a safe environment for expressive worship. Want to sing quietly? Want to lay prostrate before the Lord? Want to raise your hands and dance? Go ahead.

9. Ministry is required. Multnomah's impact on the community is huge. Students and faculty spend tens of thousands of hours in service every year in Portland.

10. High-speed Internet access is available. Can anyone remember life before the Internet? The Internet is a wonderful tool for immediate, but not always reliable, information. Don't forget -- we have a library, too.

Enjoy the school year.
