Coach Lois Vos has become Multnomah Bible College's new athletic director. Coach Vos, who just completed her 15th year working at Multnomah, had been working as the assistant athletic director until this summer, when Coach Reese left.

Former athletic director Chris Reese was offered a position as the athletic director and men's basketball coach at Oklahoma Wesleyan University. After he took the position, Multnomah was left without an athletic director and little time to find a replacement before school started in August. Coach Vos said she wanted to go through the interview process just as any other candidate would.

She first met with Dr. Wayne Strickland, academic dean and then began interviews with the academic dean's council.

Coach Vos' experience will help her in her new position. She has a bachelor of arts degree in physical education with a teaching credential from Seattle Pacific University and a master's degree in sport management from the U.S. Sports Academy.

While working on her master's degree, Coach Vos served as an athletic director. Two years ago, Coach Reese took a leave of absence, which left Coach Vos as athletic director for the year. During that year, Noel Shaak, a seminary student, coached the men's basketball team.

Coach Vos' promotion required a change in the athletic director's job description, which has been the same for the past 25 years. The athletic director has always coached the men's basketball team. To accommodate Coach Vos, the job description was changed, and a new men's basketball coach, Curt Bickley, was hired.

In the future, Coach Vos would like to see wood flooring on the second half of the gym. She would also like to expand the weight room and add two more intercollegiate sports, one for men and one for women. As for this coming year, she said, "I'm looking forward to a good, challenging, changing year."
