Bagels and coffee a space-tacular experience at Bagel Sphere

Bagel Sphere has a comfortable atmosphere that is ideal for study sessions. -Tess Chierici, photo
What happens when you combine bagels and coffee with a galaxy theme? The Bagel Sphere, a small shop that promises "bagels out of this world" and serves them oozing with cream cheese.
Bagel Sphere employees bake the bagels on the premises and will toast them for customers at no charge.
Loaded with poppy seeds, sesame seeds, sunflower seeds, garlic, and a few mystery ingredients, an "everything" bagel will satisfy anyone's craving for variety. Slathered in tangy jalapeno cream cheese, this bagel is a delicious way to start your morning.
A spinach-herb bagel combines strong herbal flavor with low-fat veggie cream cheese.
A warm, crisp cheddar cheese bagel spread with plain cream cheese tastes simply delicious, and a poppy seed bagel boasts a crunchy crust of poppy seeds. The honey-walnut specialty cream cheese, however, is gooey, a little too sweet and practically devoid of walnuts.
Plain bagels cost 70 cents, specialty bagels such as cheddar cheese or poppy seed run 85 cents. Breakfast bagels come with bacon, eggs, sausage, or ham. Cream cheese adds
$1 to the price of a bagel. A specialty cream cheese ups the price by an additional 25 cents. For a perfect breakfast or afternoon snack, order a cup of coffee or bottle of juice as well.
The nonfat mocha, made with Ghirradelli chocolate, is ideal for chocolate lovers. Or wash a bagel down with the Rocket, a plain American coffee, for a jump start on the day.
Besides espresso and other coffee drinks, coolers contain Nantucket Nectars, sodas, juice drinks, and 10 smoothie varieties for $3.75 each.
The Bagel Sphere also offers sandwiches and soup for lunch. A Garden Burger, which comes with tomatoes, sprouts, onions, mustard, and mayonnaise, costs $4.94. Our advice: Stick with the bagels.
Along with tables and chairs, Bagel Sphere has a comfortable couch big enough for four people and stools that face a window decorated with moons and stars. Books, bottles of jam, stuffed beanies and flowers occupy a bookshelf.
Employees provide quick, cheerful service from behind a counter. If customers come in regularly, the
employees will remember the order. A
large group should receive their food separately because by the time everyone's bagels arrive at once, yours might be cold.
Bagel Sphere is located in a strip mall across from Newport Bay Restaurant near Mall 205. The restaurant opens at 6 a.m. and closes at 5 p.m., except on Saturdays when it closes at 3 p.m.
The Bagel Sphere's bright, cheerful atmosphere, quick service and delicious bagels make it a great place to have a break, enjoy a snack, and maybe even study.
