Stugo Aims to Be Visible

"Those of you with clothes on, get in the pool!"

"Grab the chicken!"

"This is the call of the canyon."

"What's your problem, Red Beard?"

"Bring out Dr. Strickland!"

Every year at Wildhorse we have a lot of fun. Every year the Lord sweeps through our hearts like the wind through the canyon. No matter who speaks, no matter who runs the retreat, no matter what songs we sing, God shows up and changes us.

Wildhorse is a perfect example of what Stugo is designed to do. While most of what you see are the events and sessions, a lot of work is done behind the scenes. Stugo is designed to facilitate environments that help you grow as a community and make you more thirsty for God. But don't give us credit for things we don't do.

I thank the RA team for already being instrumental in coming alongside and serving you. Stugo is here to empower you. We are not about us; we are about you. Because of this, we desire to be visible.

Every year at Wildhorse the Stugo president and vice president sit on stage during meals. Why this strange ritual? We do it because it is exactly that, a ritual, a tradition that is passed down from year to year.

But there is a tradition that we are trying to break. That is the way Stugo is involved in your lives.

Some of you probably have noticed Stugo looks more different this year than ever. Not just because there's a weird red head running around now, but for other reasons.

We are a senate made of senators representing you by class and residency. We have representatives on the curriculum committee and the academic dean's council.

Whether it's advocating for your interests to the administration, participating in events or starting a club, Stugo is here for you.

Please feel free to e-mail us at isaac@multnomah.edu, call or stop by the Stugo office. And you can always come to our meetings on Wednesdays at 10 a.m. in the Stugo conference room in the JCA.

Thank you for the privilege of serving you.
