International Renewal to facilitate 90 prayer summits this year
International Renewal Ministries plans to sponsor approximately 90 prayer summits in the United States and abroad this school year. The first conference of the fall was held in the Bahamas Oct. 6-9. During October, IRM also held summits in California, Colorado, Michigan, Washington, Wisconsin and Australia.
"Ninety cities in a year is incredible," said Terry Dirks, head of IRM. In a prayer summit the local pastors of the city meet together for four days. There is no planned program just spontaneous prayer and worship. The goal of the summits is to develop unity, a healthy community of believers, personal humility and holiness with God among the pastors.
IRM personnel spent most of the summer preparing for the fall summits. They also sponsored a conference for prayer summit facilitators at Cannon Beach. Those who attended brainstormed answers to the question, "What does it take to impact a city for God?" IRM believes the answer involves this process of breaking down barriers: holiness, humility, unity, community and then impact.
IRM and Cannon Beach Conference Center co-sponsored Multnomah Week at Cannon Beach in August. People in the Multnomah family (donors, alumni, trustees, faculty) were invited to enjoy a weekend of refreshment with their families. About 300 people attended. Speakers included Multnomah's Dr. Dan Lockwood, Dr. Jeff Arthurs, Dr. Bruce Fong, and the Multnomah music department provided special music.
