Dave Munson, ’96
B.A. Theological Studies, Greek Minor
CEO Saddleback Leather Company
After graduating from MU, Dave Munson moved to Mexico to teach English. In need of a bag to carry his books, Dave met with a local craftsman and designed his first leather bag. He sold his first leather briefcase in 2003 and has since become the CEO of Saddleback Leather Company, based in Fort Worth, TX. Committed to creating quality leather goods and running his company with integrity, Dave is a great example of what it can look like for an MU graduate to bring their theological education into the business world.
In a recent interview with NACCAP (North American Coalition for Christian Admissions Professionals), Dave stated that his MU education taught him important life skills for success, not just facts anyone can read or google. Skills like time management, logic, how to research, listening and reading comprehension, formulating and articulating thoughts, forecasting have all prepared him to run a successful business.
He incorporates his faith into his work by equipping his employees for ministry and talking with them about God and His plan for salvation. He remains grounded in his work and ministry by staying in the Word, prayer, and recognizing that God is the one who has ignited this passion for his work and ministry.
