Overview

Our continuing education program offers the opportunity to build upon your knowledge and skills through our elective courses. This program is designed to meet the needs of:

  • Current students who are taking the courses for credit or non-credit
  • Alumni, clinical supervisors, and faculty members who want continuing education credits (CE’s)
  • Professionals and community members who want continuing education credits (CE’s)

The cost of the programs is generally $15 per credit. Students who are taking courses for non-credit, alumni, internship supervisors, and adjunct faculty receive a 20% discount. Some programs may cost more. Please see the specific brochure for your training for exact prices.

To register for the course, select the link to the right, and complete the registration process. Once completed, the MAC Department will process payments. Current students who wish to receive elective credit for a course must register through the MU Registrar.

Participants must cancel with more than 24 hours’ notice in order to receive a full refund for the training. To cancel your registration, email the MAC Department at mac@multnomah.edu. Refunds will be processed and returned within 2 weeks of cancellation. Cancellations made with less than 24 hours notice will forfeit the cost of training.

Our continuing education credits program is developed to meet continuing education requirements for the Oregon and Washington Licensed Counselor Boards. This includes assuring qualification of trainers and course content to meet continuing education requirements.

It is the participant’s responsibility to maintain records to confirm the program with their licensing board. Please see the Oregon Board of Licensed Professional Counselors and Therapists and the Washington State Mental Health Counselor webpages for continuing education requirements.

We offer a Lay Counseling Certificate for pastors and church leaders regularly interact with individuals who experience mental health-related distress in a Christian ministry context.

We offer stand-alone CE courses as well as weekend electives.

Therapeutic Interventions for Trauma

What: The course will focus on treatment of trauma using common evidenced-based, therapeutic approaches in the treatment of trauma such as EMDR, neurofeedback, prolonged exposure, and cognitive behavioral therapy.
