MAT Application

Application Checklist

  • Application (online) (PDF)
    • Admission Essays Prompts (included in application)
      • Please submit two essays as part of this application:
        a. One essay of at least 300 words detailing your current relationship with Jesus Christ.
        b. One essay of at least 500 words discussing what you would like to pursue upon earning an MA in Teaching (MAT) degree.

  • Spiritual Life Reference Form (online) (PDF)
    • To be completed by a minster at your church or your ministry supervisor
  • Two MAT Letter of Recommendation Forms (online) (PDF)
    • Choose individuals who can speak to your potential for success as a teacher.
  • $40 Application Fee
    • Visit the Online Payments page to pay your application fee online. You can also pay in-person, over the phone, or by mail. Contact us at 877.251.6560 for more information.
  • Official Transcript from each college or university you have attended or are currently attending or from which you will receive credit.
    • Show evidence of having completed at least 12 credits of Bible/Theology from an approved institution. (Students may be admitted conditionally to the program without the prerequisite Bible/Theology credits, but must complete the 12 credits prior to graduation from the MAT program.)
  • Entrance Exam: Submit passing scores on one of the following entrance exams: CBEST, WEST-B, Praxis I, NES.
  • Fingerprint Clearance with PA-1 Form: Pick up an instructional packet from the Admissions Office or Teacher Education Department. Have your fingerprints taken, fill out PA-1 form and return it to Admissions or the Teacher Education office. Directions are included in packet.
