MU Wins 3rd Conference Game

110-101 win

PORTLAND, OREGON - The Multnomah Lions faced off with the #4 ranked West Coast Baptist Eagles on Wednesday afternoon for the second time this season.  The Eagles beat the Lions in Lancaster, California two weeks ago by a score of 103-99. Even though West Coast Baptist is 1000 miles away, they are the biggest rival for the Multnomah Basketball program.  Coach Curt Beeson and Curt Bickley have competed against each other for the past 11 years encompassing over 30 games between the two coaches.

WCB jumped out to an early 11-2 lead to start the game in this one, but the Lions came back to take a 60-51 lead before the half. Davey Walker connected on three straight from behind the arc to help MU regain that lead. The Lions knocked down 10 of 19 three's against the notoriously difficult WCB defense.

MU took a 12 point lead only to see West Coast Baptist come storming back to tie the score with five minutes to go. MU had a one point lead with just over a minute left when Davey Walker hit his 6th three pointer of the night to put the Lions up by 4 points. MU held on from there by making their free throws for the 110-101 victory.

West Coast Baptist still leads the conference with a 3-1 record, while MU goes to 3-2. The two teams will face off again for the Regional Championship at the end of February, the winner goes to the NCCAA National tournament.

Davey Walker finished with 26 points while Stevie Sansone added 20. Steve Bustrin had 19 points and 8 assists, while Jordan Paris finished with 9 points and 11 rebounds. West Coast Baptist was led by Ryan Molencupp with 21 points.
