Multnomah University is pleased to add women’s basketball in the fall/winter of 2014-15. The team will be competing in the NCCAA (National Christian College Athletic Association), Division 2.
Multnomah has selected Tim Bieri as the head coach. For the past three seasons, Bieri has been the women’s volleyball coach here at MU as well. He came to Portland in 2010 to serve as Multnomah's assistant men’s basketball coach and so his wife, Sara, could earn her master’s degree in Christian Leadership at MU.
Bieri is a native of Colorado, where he was a stand-out high school four sport athlete (golf, basketball, soccer and baseball). He specifically shined in basketball and earned a full-ride scholarship to Fort Lewis College (NCAA D2) in Durango, Colorado. While at Fort Lewis, Bieri broke the school record for most points in a career, and was named a NCAA D2 All-American in his senior season.
After college, Bieri pursued a professional basketball career. He was invited to multiple NBDL (NBA Developmental League) tryouts and received a few offers to play overseas. However, Bieri decided to pursue a life of ministry, and became involved with a Christian basketball mission organization called News Release Basketball (www.nrbasketball.org). Bieri has played, coached and served with News Release for the past 10 years.
Coach Bieri and his wife currently reside in Gresham, Oregon, and have a two-year-old son named Isaac.
