Dr. Takamura is originally from Kauai where multinational races, cultures, foods, and personalities were key ingredients for learning in his early years. After his studies, he worked as an accountant, internal auditor, finance director, and human resources person. He gained experience working in large corporations and in small businesses. He learned the value of good planning, budgeting, training, and accomplishing tasks. In the classroom, he shares those experiences with students to remind them that knowledge needs to be shared to be effective. His research focuses on working with the whole student, believing that each student brings his or her life experience into problem-solving. In Ted’s opinion, it is not just the “bottom line” financial statements that matter — those dollars represent people’s lives.
Ted attends monthly meetings with the Institute of Management Accountants. He participates in continuing education for CPAs and Certified Fraud Examiners. His scholarship travels include attending many national conferences to present at the American Accounting Association, IACBE accredited business schools, mentoring conferences, and others. The center of his life is his commitment to Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, who is the driving force of his entire being.
