Multnomah remains committed to educating those who desire to know the Bible and serve others in a variety of settings and vocations. The students are committed and seeking God’s will as they pursue their next step. Career Coaching allows me to help them through that process and the joy of seeing them pursue a vocation that provides meaning and satisfaction whether in the marketplace, church, or non-profit setting.
Having graduated from the nursing program at Oregon Health Science University with honors, I realized that my gifts and interests lay in helping people work through emotional and spiritual needs, as well as problem solving in life direction. I completed an M.Ed. in Counseling from the University of Birmingham and served four years as the Dean of Women at Southeastern Bible College in Birmingham, Alabama.
Moving back to Oregon for my husband to teach at Multnomah, I was asked to be the Dean of Students at Multnomah Biblical Seminary in 1988, where I continued in that position until 2010. After helping my husband in church ministry for four years, I returned to Multnomah in 2014 as the Career Services Coordinator. I also teach Pastoral Marriage Counseling and Crisis Counseling at the Seminary as well as Career Development at the college. I also provide leadership to several church-related ministries including small-group discipleship and seminar/retreat speaking, often addressing the areas of relationships, marriage, spiritual formation, and spiritual giftedness in ministry while teaching pastoral counseling courses as an adjunct professor at the seminary.
As a mother of two grown daughters, both married to lead pastors in the Portland area. My interests include swimming, frequenting garage sales, strolling on the beach and watching my four grandchildren “nail it” on the basketball court.
In the Portland region, I also enjoy riding with my husband on his wave-runner on the Columbia and Willamette Rivers, coffee at Monte’s and discovering the beauty of the Northwest from the Cascade mountains to the coast.
