As a Practical Theology Professor, Dr. Mark Belokonny is on the front lines of preparing the next generation of pastors and church leaders using an accelerated educational model. His passion is to strategically invest in the lives of men and women as they prepare to advance the Great Commission and the Great Commands.
Mark brings a wealth of practical, pastoral ministry and church consulting experiences to his professorial role. He remains actively involved in consulting with various churches and coaching pastors. (Mark serves extensively as a speaker, pastoral search consultant and conflict resolution mediator.) In 2013, the University of Western States presented him their “Outstanding Faculty Award” for excellence in relating to students academically. These experiences enable him to bring a practical, relevant approach to his teaching.
Dr. Belokonny desires to raise up a new generation of church and Christian leaders who will develop healthy, growing, dynamic churches and vibrant ministries both at home and abroad. In addition to clearly sharing Biblical truth and building practical ministry skills, Mark is equally invested in the life development of those to whom he ministers. Mentoring students through their academic journey is a special joy and strategic opportunity.
When in Portland, he enjoys strolling along the Riverfront, visiting various parks, dining at ethnic restaurants and trying out various food carts. Getting out in nature to enjoy the Columbia River Gorge, the local streams and forests, Mt. Hood or the beautiful Oregon Coast are also favorite activities.
