MU Athletics Inaugural Golf Tournament

PORTLAND, Ore. — The Multnomah University (MU) Athletics Department announced it will hold the inaugural Multnomah University Golf Classic on Tuesday, May 14, 2019, at the Langdon Farms Golf Club.

The annual event will raise money toward the general athletic fund as MU continues to strive for the best student-athlete experience.

“We are excited to continue the upward momentum of our Athletics Department through this new golf tournament,” said Director of Intercollegiate Athletics Lois Vos. “This is an event where we can have a great time together and boost the resources that will improve our student athletes’ experience in many ways.”

The tournament will be a scramble format with a shotgun start set for 7:45 a.m. on May 14, 2019. Breakfast will be provided, as well as lunch at the closing ceremony.

Individual ($200) and foursome ($800) options are available, and registration is now open. Raffle tickets will also be available to purchase during check-in on Monday morning for a chance to win numerous prizes after participating in the tournament.

Whole sponsor and other sponsorship opportunities are also available. Please contact the athletic department with any questions.

“We look forward to this being a continual and sustainable event, and we are thankful for the opportunity to invite others into what God is doing in and through Multnomah University Athletics,” Vos shared.

Multnomah University has seen some amazing strides during the 2018-19 academic year. Men’s soccer finished with the most wins since becoming a program in 2015. Both basketball programs have already recorded their highest win totals since joining the NAIA. For MU’s men’s basketball team, Justin Martin set a national record when he recorded 71 points in the Lions’ win over Warner Pacific.

Our student-athletes have matched their success in the classroom as well, with 18 students named the Cascade Conference Fall and Winter All-Academic teams. Marcus Krause, from men’s soccer, was named a 2018 Google Cloud Academic All-America® recipient, earning one of the most prestigious academic awards in collegiate athletics.
