Multnomah Bible College and Biblical Seminary is pleased to announce that construction has begun on the Joseph C. Aldrich Student Center. The new 31,500-square-foot, $2.8 million student center is scheduled to be complete and ready for use by fall term in September of 2005.
"The Joseph C. Aldrich Student Center will stand as a permanent tribute to a man who genuinely loves students," said Dr. Daniel Lockwood, president of Multnomah Bible College and Biblical Seminary. Dr. Aldrich, the current president emeritus, served as Multnomah's president from 1979 to 1997.
The new student center consists of two phases. Phase one includes a 15,500-square-foot addition to the current cafeteria. This new two-story section will contain a 400-seat dining hall, offices, an outer deck with tables, and a stage for special events.
Phase two of the new student center consists of a remodel of the current 16,000-square-foot student commons building. The remodel will create a student lounge, a nurse's office and wellness center, a renovated cafe, and a kitchen expansion.
$2 million of the total funds have been raised from private donors and Aramark, the school's food provider. The remaining $800,000 will be raised from a public campaign to begin in January. All extra funding will be used to furnish the new facility.
