Prayer for Victims of Las Vegas Attack
“How long, Lord, must I call for help?… Why do you tolerate wrongdoing?” – Habakkuk 1:1, 3.
“Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted.” – Matthew 5:4
Our hearts and prayers go out to the victims of the attack in Las Vegas this weekend. As a Christian university, Multnomah believes we are meant to mourn with the mourning, and so we grieve with our brothers and sisters affected by this horrible attack. Also, as a university with a location in Reno, Nevada, we recognize that some in our own community might be affected personally or know others affected personally by this tragedy. For any in our community impacted by this evil, we grieve with and support you.
Lord, we pray that you would comfort the families of the 59 killed and the 527 injured in the Las Vegas attack. We pray that your Holy Spirit would bring consolation, peace and courage to any in need of it at this time. Please hear our prayers in the aftermath of this tragedy as we call out for mercy and justice as so many have done before: “Lord, have mercy; Christ, have mercy.”
If you are looking for ways to support victims of the Las Vegas attack directly, the Clark County Commission Chair in Las Vegas has set up a verified crowdfund through Go Fund Me that can be accessed here.
