The mission of the Music Ministry Department is to musically and spiritually equip students for effective worship/music ministry in the church and in the world.
By combining courses of study in Bible, theology and Christian ministry with musical training, knowledge, and practice, the Music Ministry Department prepares graduates for effective leadership in churches, parachurch organizations and in arts production and community arts organizations.
Description of the Program
The Music Ministry Department offers a four-year Bachelor of Arts degree with emphases in composition, instrumental or vocal performance, and worship leading. The Music Ministry Major (thirty-two credit hours), combined with Bible and General Education, fulfills the requirements for a bachelor's degree. The Minor (nineteen credit hours) is designed for students who wish to grow in their knowledge of music and worship but also desire to explore other fields of interest.
Music Ministry courses include Private Instruction, Music Theory, Choir, Conducting, Worship Seminar, Arts Ministry Production, and Worship: Past and Present. Music leadership skills are further developed through the interpersonal mentoring relationships with our highly skilled and experienced faculty.
Students also have a wealth of opportunities for practical experience in music production and worship leading through extracurricular activities, through student-led chapel worship teams and through the concert and tour opportunities available to members of the Ambassador choir.
