Multnomah Students Join Second MLK Day of Service

This January, Multnomah University will partner with nine other Oregon colleges and universities for the second Martin Luther King Day of Service honoring Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. The MLK Day of Service is a higher-education cooperative that builds community by living out the beliefs of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., through volunteer service. The MLK Day of Service is a multi-institutional collaboration among colleges and universities in the greater Portland Metro area. More than 1,000 students are expected to participate in the all-day event on Monday, January 17, 2011.

The Event
The MLK Day of Service will begin with an opening rally (9 to 10 a.m.) at Portland State University's Stott Center. PSU President Wim Wiewel and other inspirational speakers will address the volunteers. After the rally, volunteers will be bused around Portland for service activities (11 a.m. to 2 p.m.).
