PORTLAND, Ore. – The Multnomah University Board of Trustees is pleased to announce that Dr. Wayne Strickland will serve as acting president for the University beginning November 2.
Strickland will take over for Dr. Daniel R. Lockwood
, who is stepping down
from the presidency November

“I am humbled and privileged to step in and serve at this difficult time in our family,” said Strickland, provost and vice president for Multnomah. “While saddened by Dr. Lockwood’s premature retirement, I look forward to serving students, faculty and staff with all my energy.”
Jack Dryden, chairman of the MU Board of Trustees
, said Strickland brings a wealth of experience and a deep understanding of the University’s mission to the position.
“The board is enthusiastic that Wayne has agreed to serve as acting president,” Dryden said. “Wayne has the expertise and the confidence of the faculty and staff to lead us at this time.”
Strickland began working at Multnomah University in 1991, when he joined the faculty as professor of Bible & Theology. He became vice president/college academic dean in 1998 and assumed his current duties in 2011.
As Strickland settles into his new role, the Presidential Search Committee will continue the search process
